Common Problems We See
- One zone warm while the other holds: a zone thermistor, damper, or auxiliary heater fault.
- Whole unit warm: a failed compressor, a control board, or a thermoelectric cooling module.
- Condensation on the glass or interior: a door gasket not sealing or a blocked drain.
- Temperature reading that will not match the set point: a drifting sensor or a miscalibrated board.
- Rattle or hum: a condenser fan or compressor mount that has loosened with age.
Typical Causes
The thermistor is the part we replace most often on wine units. It is a small temperature sensor, and when it drifts the control board acts on a false reading, letting a zone climb well past its target. On dual-zone units a warm zone is almost always local to that zone rather than a whole-system failure, since one compressor typically serves both. Condensation traces back to the door: a gasket that has hardened or a hinge that has sagged lets warm room air meet the cold interior. We check the seal and the drain path before assuming anything more serious.
